A Dose of Fatherhood
A Dose of Fatherhood
Welcome to The Gayly Dose!
Fatherhood, to some, probably isn’t a hot topic in the gay community. With that being said though, it is one that deserves a lot more attention. From inception to death, it is something that plays a crucial role in our development as people and how we evolve as a society.
In the gay world, fatherhood is a challenging subject due to the taboo nature of homosexuality and a heternormative world. We often find that the men who raise us with the anticipation that we will be straight we divert from the path once gay becomes apart of the journey. While this is something that plagues everyone, it can affect how gay men perceive potentially fathering children of their own.
This week we dive head first into this topic; the episode is full of stories and advice due to the varied experiences we all have with the subject at hand.
“The best way of training the young is to train yourself at the same time; not to admonish them, but to be seen never doing that of which you would admonish them.” –Plato

Loved this episode! So much discussion can be made around fatherhood and how we, as LGBTQ+ people, fit into society as parents. I want children— no doubt about it! I’ve dreamed of being a father since I was little, and to this day, that dream is still vivid for my future. I love the different perspectives that you all brought to this episode and how you all shed light on your own experiences and desires.
